THE LOFT at Lower Parel
THE LOFT at Lower Parel, an arts project space, encouraged creative interaction, national and international residencies, curatorial projects, and was a studio gallery and a source for exciting art acquisitions.
Over 2008-2012, THE LOFT at Lower Parel conducted international residencies and studio shows for Indian artists, besides inviting well known curators to present an exhibition/project based on ongoing concerns. A panel comprising eminent collectors, established artists, and critic-curators recommended artists and curators for THE LOFT's annual program. Nominations for 2009-2010 were made by Anupam Poddar, Sangita Jindal, Jitish Kallat, Sudarshan Shetty, Priya Pall and Anupa Mehta. Applications for 2010-2011 were appraised by a six person panel including Amrita Jhaveri, Girish Shahane, Harsh Goenka, Shaheen Merali, Swapan Seth and Anupa Mehta. From 2013-2018 THE LOFT at Lower Parel presented curated exhibitions by emerging and leading artists.
Arts Reverie
This six-year-long project began with the restoration of a 1920s heritage property. This house, Arts Reverie, served as the nexus for national and international artists interested in developing community arts projects of varying scale. Anupa supported international artists by embedding them in a large network of arts professionals and patrons, both in India as well as in the United Kingdom. She helped artists enhance concepts, find local collaborators, and work with the local government to exhibit these projects towards the end of widening the reach of arts awareness.
